Stranger Things, Westworld win big at Creative Arts Emmy Awards

The Creative Arts Emmys are often considered a sort of foreshadowing for the Emmy Awards; if a shows racks up multiple wins in the technical categories, it usually means good news for them in the "bigger" categories to come. Historically, shows that earn the Outstanding Casting Emmy tend to go on to win big; for the last five consecutive years, the casting victor for limited series or TV movie have then garnered the Outstanding Series prize.

In less than a week the most prestigious TV award shows will roll into town but many have already been speculating about what shows should win an Emmys this year.

Stranger Things composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein have picked up an Emmy Award for their incredible synth-led soundtrack.

Deadline reports that after accepting the award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, DuVernay used the moment to talk about amplifying unheard stories.

The general consensus is that previous year's victor, "Veep", will once again take home the title for Best Comedy Series. The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards air September 17 at 5 p.m.

RuPaul's Drag Race won outstanding host for a reality programme and was also celebrated for its editing and costumes.

NBC's This Is Us pulled out a big win with the last award of the night - the guest drama actor win for Gerald McRaney.

All four awards won by "Samurai Jack" were for individual achievement in animation and went to storyboard artist Bryan Andrews, production designer Scott Wills, character designer Craig Kellman and background designer Lou Romano. We love you and we see you.

Tom O'Neil, the author of The Emmys reference book predicts Stranger Things will take the prize. The same was also true for The Handmaid's Tale as Alexis Bledel won the Award for Outstanding Guest Actress.

The prime-time awards Sunday will affect the network totals, but for now, HBO has won the most Emmys so far this year: 19.
