David Harbour reveals first look as Hellboy

To commemorate the beginning of what is sure to be a lengthy shoot, the Hellboy social media accounts have shared our first look at Stranger Things star David Harbour in full makeup as the title character, and he looks absolutely incredible.

Many fans were excited about the image and noted the darker take on the character. Unfortunately, Harbour's original tweet has since been deleted, but we managed to acquire a screenshot of it before it was removed. In the caption, Harbour introduces Hellboy with the opening lyrics from The Rolling Stones' iconic song "Sympathy for the Devil": "Please allow to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste..."

The writers of the film are Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mignola.

Look familiar? Harbour is the second actor to play Hellboy in live action in a major film, with Ron Perlman having previously taken up the mantle in Guillermo del Toro's two Hellboy films. A third Hellboy film with the same director and cast was discussed as a possibility for years, before del Toro announced in February 2017 via Twitter, "Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen". Skrein has since stepped down from the role and Daniel Dae Kim is set to replace him.

With a late 2018 release in its sights, we understand Marshall's franchise revival will order Hellboy across the pond, where he "must defeat Nimue, Merlin's consort and the Blood Queen".
