Fans unfurl racism banner from Green Monster during Red Sox game

It did not appear that the banner was seen on television as it was unveiled inbetween the top and bottom of the fourth inning.

The banner display didn't last long, however, according to MassLive's Jen McCaffrey, who reported that it lasted for "abaout a minute". The game was briefly delayed while security handled the situation. Before banner and banner bearers were removed by an apparent combination of stadium security and Boston Police. Early in the season, a fan yelled a slur at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones. Recently Red Sox ownership proposed that Yawkey Way near Fenway Park be renamed for David Ortiz. On Wednesday night, someone sitting at Fenway Park's Green Monster created another. There was no immediate comment from the Red Sox. The Red Sox have also discussed changing the name of Yawkey Way outside the ballpark because of racial issues that occurred during Tom Yawkey's time as Red Sox owner.
