Frank Vincent, 'Sopranos' and 'Goodfellas' star, dies at 78

TMZ reports that he died due to complications of heart surgery after a heart attack.

He was best known for playing Brooklyn mob boss Phil Leotardo on "The Sopranos" for several years. He was 78 years old.

Frank Vincent, the instantly recognizable actor from The Sopranos, Goodfellas and Casino with a face perhaps more familiar than his name, died today. He was known for roles in mafia movies.

He was born in MA and was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. His filmography also includes Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Last Exit to Brooklyn, Cop Land, and most importantly, Belly, where he also served as DMX, Nas, and Method Man's acting coach.
