Missing Md. teacher found dead; suspect in custody

"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Wilde Lake High School teacher Ms. Laura Wallen was found deceased tonight by Montgomery County Police". Family members received a text from Wallen's phone that day and were not able to reach her again.

Tessier appeared Monday beside Wallen's parents and her sister at news conference pleading for Wallen to contact her family and asking for her safe return.

According to Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, Wallen's body was found in a wooded area in Damascus, Maryland.

Wallen, 31, of Olney, Md., was a social studies teacher at Wilde Lake High School in Howard County, where she taught since 2014. Police would not go into detail what the text message said, but it was described as troubling.

Police found Wallen's truck abandoned in an apartment complex off of Gramercy Place near Columbia Mall last Thursday.

The Howard County mobile crisis team will be at Wilde Lake High School Wednesday evening to provide support to the entire Wilde Lake community.

Wallen's boyfriend, who she's known for 10 years, said she is four months pregnant and excited to have a baby.

Before the arrest was announced, FOX 5 asked police if foul play was suspected.

"I don't know where she is".

"There's so many people, so people that miss you", he said Monday. They would only refer to this case as suspicious.

Investigators determined Tessier was the last person to see Wallen alive. Police had already identified him as a person of interest in the case.
