Bruins upset by Memphis Tigers

UCLA has been vulnerable against the run thus far this season and on Saturday will need to find a way to slow host Memphis, which displayed a dominant rushing attack in its season-opening win.

MEMPHIS A failed fake field goal gave UCLA one last chance and it slipped through the arms of Darren Andrews 10 plays later on fourth-and-3.

All the points were scored in this game. All. Of.

UCLA running back Jalen Starks (32) celebrates after scoring a touchdown on a 7-yard run against Memphis in the first half of an NCAA college football game Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, in Memphis, Tenn. Get the app and get the game.

This was a huge upset, especially when you consider the Bruins have an NFL-level gunslinger, Josh Rosen, at quarterback. He missed an open receiver who would have had the first down.

Memphis quarterback Riley Ferguson was 23 for 38 passing with 398 yards and six touchdowns. Rosen was able to drive the Bruins into Memphis territory, but couldn't come through on the fourth-and-5 throw. All that being said the Bruins had trouble running the ball, couldn't stop Memphis on defense, and put tons of pressue on the junior to make plays to win the game, but if he is going to be a successful National Football League quarterback he must eliminate these head-scratching plays.
