Cincinnati Bengals change coordinator, not quarterback, to address offensive struggles

The Cincinnati Bengals host the Houston Texans on Thursday night in Paul Brown Stadium (8:25 p.m. ET, NFL Network), and there will be no shortage of drama for this week's game.

Later in the second quarter, Watson was drilled by Geno Atkins for an 11-yard sack, one of three sacks for the Bengals in the half.

Savage was supportive of Watson and said he will continue to be a good teammate to the first-round draft pick from Clemson.

Watson, who entered the game thirty minutes into the season opener, went 12 of 23 for 102 yards and a touchdown, while Savage, who was replaced, was 7 of 13 for 62 yards in Week 1.

The Texans relied heavily on their running game against the Bengals because of numerous injuries to their tight ends and receivers.

"Zig-zag, zig-zag, zig-zag, tired, tired, tired", Watt said, describing the multi-lateral play. Still, he led the Texans to a win, which is something you can't say about Tom Savage.

After an embarassing home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, the Houston Texans were looking for redemption.

The Bengals rushed 24 times for a total of 82 yards with Joe Mixon leading the way with 9 carries for 36 yards.

While attempting to chase down arguably the fastest player on the field, Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney got a chance to show off his own speed. Dalton was 20-35 for 224 yards. The Bengals need to figure out a way to get 2015 Andy Dalton back or maybe it's time to start planning for the future.

After Thursday's game, he said he had to check if his finger was still attached.

On the final play with multiple laterals, Dalton got the ball back and threw it to centre Russell Bodine, who was levelled by J.J. Watt to end the game. His 49-yard touchdown scamper was the biggest play of the game.

With how poorly the Texans offensive line played against the Jaguars, it is hard to see Houston doing much better. "My receivers and everyone that was downfield did a good job of blocking for me". Houston's offense managed just 66 yards in the first half.

In the meantime, the National Football League said Wednesday that Houston's linebacker Brian Cushing has been suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. The offense slipped last season with Ken Zampese in his first season as coordinator, with injuries gutting the unit at midseason.

DE Michael Johnson was declared out of Thursday night's game against the Houston Texans after suffering a stinger and a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
