Iran's Supreme Leader Vows a Strong Response Against Attempts to Derail JCPOA

"Today, despite all the commitments and discussions in the negotiations, America's attitude toward these negotiations and their outcome is completely unjust and amounts to bullying", Khamenei said in a speech to Iranian military graduates. Nevertheless, US officials stated that Washington will announce the continuation of sanctions relief for Iran in accordance with the deal.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned what he termed "Washington's disloyalty to the 2015 nuclear deal", warning that "any wrong move" by the USA will be followed by Tehran's "tough reaction".

Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the Iran's Police Academy, Khamenei said that the Iranian nation "stands firmly on its own feet" and is capable of responding to hostile actions of any state.

On regional issues, he noted that the reasons behind insecurity in the Middle East can be traced to the "wicked and mischievous interventions" by the US.

The Iranian leader threatened a harsh response to any attempt by the U.S. to alter the nuclear deal.

President Hassan Rouhani left on Sunday for the UN General Assembly in NY, where he is set to hold crucial talks on the 2015 nuclear deal, which eased global sanctions in exchange for curbs to Iran's atomic programme.

Iran denies its missile development breaches the resolution, saying its missiles are not created to carry nuclear weapons. "They believe that a feast has been set out but that they are deprived of going to the table", Rouhani said before leaving Tehran for NY on Sunday to attend the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting.

"Iran also expects the European Union to send this strong message to the USA (administration)", Rouhani said during a meeting with the visiting president of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium, Siegfried Baracke.

"If the nuclear deal is discarded, Iran will be able to return to its previous status and grow even more powerful than the past before the time planned", he added.
