Mamata's "Aurangzebic dictate" against Hindus will be a waterloo for her: RSS

Her comments came a day after the VHP made a decision to go ahead with its plan of a "shastra pujan (weapon worship)" at private and religious institutions during Bijoya Dashami (Vijaya Dashami) across the state, despite CM Banerjee's instruction to police to thwart any such event.

Mamata said, "One thing should be clear- there shouldn't be any immersion during Muharram. Immersion will resume as usual from October two to four", she told reporters at the state secretariat. She iterated that "no violence will be tolerated during Durga Puja. The state government tried to stop it but they did not succeed", Jishnu Basu, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) West Bengal General Secretary told PTI.

He said the government would deploy some 16,800 ansars at the puja mandaps to provide security alongside law-enforcement agencies including the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Banerjee said the "BJP should not do politics using CBI, ED and foment riots".

Issuing a strong warning to them, the West Bengal CM said that she won't allow anybody to disturb the peace during the Durga Puja. "So, if the people from BJP, RSS and VHP believe they can ruin our peace, I'd ask them to not play with fire", she said.

However, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad said the party will get permission from the court to go ahead with celebrations on Vijaya Dashmi, DNA reported.

She also urged members of the Muslim community to peacefully take out their procession during Muharram.

Keeping the state's law and order in mind, Banerjee had earlier said that immersion of Durga idols will not be permitted on 1 October because of Muharram processions scheduled for the same day.
