Wilson Contreras Suspended Two Games, John Lackey Fined After Fiery Ejections

Baker called a pitch from Lackey a ball, and on the very next pitch Carlos Martinez singled to center field, driving in the go-ahead run.

Now Major League Baseball has announced that Willson Contreras will be suspended two games.

In case you missed it, Contreras stepped in for pitcher John Lackey as he got into a verbal argument with home plate umpire Jordan Baker in the top of the fifth inning last night. Contreras also got into it with Baker, at one point slamming his mask into the ground. The verdict came down from Joe Torre, MLB's VP of operations chief. After Contreras was tossed, He threw down his mask in disgust, and the mask bounced and made contact with umpire Jordan Baker. Contreras will appeal the suspension and will be able to play until the appeal process is completed. Contreras appealed and was in the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals. "He is emotional. We are all working on having him curb that a bit".

Lackey was also fined an undisclosed amount of money for his part in Friday's ejection and outburst.
