Naval hospital removes employees after disturbing photos with newborns go viral

Two nurses who referred to newborn babies as "mini satans" on social media were removed from their posts at a Florida Naval hospital on Monday.

Action News Jax received exclusive video of what appears to be a nurse inappropriately handling a newborn.

"How I now feel about these mini Satans". "It's outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and can not be tolerated", the hospital said in a statement posted to Facebook.

Naval Hospital Jacksonville released a statement that reads in part "we have identified the staff members involved". "We are suppose to trust care systems....had it been my child they did this to loosing [sic] their license would have been the last thing they needed to worry about!", one person wrote.

The hospital also says it is still notifying involved parties. The hospital added in a Facebook post that Thompson and Barrett may also face both legal and military charges for their actions.

First Coast News was flooded with emails and messages sharing the Facebook post, which garnered more than 100,000 shares as of 11 p.m. Monday.

It's unclear whether the photos involve the same baby and nurse.

It was not immediately clear if the nurses had been or will be fired, as the hospital only announced they had removed the women from active care as they investigated the incident.
