HC issues notice to Haryana govt; no relief for Ryan trustees

The High Court also issued a notice to the Haryana Government and sought a reply in the matter.

The bench headed by Justice Inderjit Singh, however, refused to grant stay on their arrest observing that it would pass any order only after hearing the state.

On Monday, Justice AB Chaudhari of the Punjab and Haryana High Court recused himself from hearing their bail petition as he said he knew the Pintos personally.

The High Court was approached by the group's CEO, Ryan Pinto, and his parents, founding chairman Augustine Pinto and managing director Grace Pinto, last week seeking anticipatory bail.

The anticipatory bail plea was filed in the High Court Registry on September 16.

The acting principal of Ryan International School in Gurgaon suspended on Saturday and all the security staff were removed, a day after a Class 2 student was found dead with his throat slit inside the school toilet.

Apprehending arrest in the case, Pinto family had prayed for anticipatory bail and requested the HC to issue directions that they should be released on bail in case of arrest in relation to the FIR registered on September 8 in Police Station Bhondsi, Gurguram.

The top court notice came days after a 7-year-old student Pradhyuman was murdered brutally inside the premises of Ryan International School.

Pinto, Grace Pinto and Francis Pinto are the owners of Ryan International School who are alleged in murdering Pradyuman Thakur, the class II student.

The case will, therefore, be heard by a Special Judge under the POCSO Act.
