Instagram is rolling out the ability to add filters to live video

The new sunglasses filter is exclusive to live video for a week.

The update to Instagram Live hasn't hit my device yet, but Instagram says it's easy to do.

Instagram just rolled out this new feature earlier today, so don't fret if you don't see the option in your app quite yet.

Alongside the video functionality comes a new filter exclusively for live video: the "Sunglasses" face filter. Tap "Start Live Video", and watch the comments roll in from friends who wish they were as cool as you. If you ever watch the live videos in the app, they're going to start looking more like stories and photos taken with the app as users will now be able to use the face filters while streaming live video to their followers. This can be done either before you go live or while the you're broadcasting. Instagram has announced that it is rolling out the ability to add filters or masks to its popular live video feature.

The feature is expected to be rolled out in few weeks globally. Some of the filters work with two faces while others only work on one face at a time.

Tap the sticker icon at the top right of your screen, select and customize the hashtag, then add it to your story.

Tap any filter to check out a new look and try out the filter. You can also change the filters you're using during the live stream.

Broadcasters are already able to save live videos to their phone after streaming after Instagram updated the feature last March. It'll be exclusive to Live Videos for the next week, so if you're itching to try it out, you're going to have to do a broadcast for your friends. You can tap any filter at any time to change which one you're using. The update is expected to be available for iOS, Android and Windows users.
