LHC accepts PPP's appeals against ATC's verdict in Benazir murder case

Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf on Thursday directly accused Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of being involved in the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

She said that Musharraf was behind the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and now he is blaming the victim. He said that "innocent officers" former Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Saud Aziz and former Rawal Town Superin tendent Police (SP) Khurram Shahzad had been sentenced to 17 years in prison even as five terrorists, who were under custody, had been acquitted.

"Zardari is responsible for the Bhutto family's demise and was involved in the deaths of Benazir and Murtaza", Musharraf alleged. "We will go to any level on the issue of the murder of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as blood of Mohtarma would not go in vain". Bakhtawar said on Twitter that, "Musharraf should quit [doing] talk shows and come talk in the courts of Pakistan", while Aseefa accused Musharraf of "blaming the victim", while also stating how she was "disgusted & appalled by media houses that are giving attention to this murderer, who ran away [to escape trial]". "It should always be analysed as to who benefited from a murder", he said.

Musharraf, who is also facing treason case for suspending the constitution in November 2007, charged that "great relationship" between Zardari and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai could have used to influence Mehsud to kill Benazir Bhutto. "This is the first time he's called me out on this by name". "Even more unusual is that the man who had murdered Shahenshah was also killed". He also questioned the change in Benazir's return route and Malik's dashing to Islamabad right after the incident. "I was not responsible for her security", he said.

Later that phone in use of Benazir Bhutto was intentionally made lost to destroy the evidence.

Moreover, Musharraf asked why people sitting with Benazir inside her vehicle - Naheed Khan, Safdar Abbasi, Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Zardari's "jail buddy" Khalid Shahenshah - were not questioned by the court.

"There was just one person that had everything to gain from Benazir's assassination and that was Asif Ali Zardari", he added, proceeding into what he termed as his analysis of the case. "He is the murderer of Benazir and Murtaza", he added. In 2008, Zaradari was acquitted of the charges of ordering the murder.

Ending his message, Musharraf said he hopes that all of Benazir's children are listening with an open mind and understand his logic.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, Khosa clarified that it was not the PPP government but Musharraf himself who invited Scotland Yard to investigate the case and when PPP came into power, the case was transferred to the FIA and the following year its JIT implicated Gen Musharraf in the case.
