Spurs boss Pochettino: Sherwood wrong about Kane

Spurs boss Pochettino: Sherwood wrong about Kane

The humour was an attempt to make light of the serious point he was making, not least as going into the trip to West Ham tomorrow, Spurs have perhaps not hit the floor running as hard as they might have liked.

Spurs stars gorged on £100-a-head grub including Norwegian crab and Spanish steak.

Kane has emerged as one of the world's finest forwards in the last couple of years, with his hauls of 25 and 29 goals winning him the Premier League Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons.

"I think we have other players that maybe deserve to be on the list but they are not".

"I invited them, so of course, I paid the bill at the end! For me, Harry is one of the best strikers in the world".

"It is tactics to take all the staff, players and chairman to a restaurant". It is as important as work on the pitch.

"And when you must fight in a competition, there's willingness to help more your team-mates and care more for your team-mates".

"And care more for the gaffer that pays the bill!" He is one of the best strikers playing for Tottenham when still we don't win any trophies. In the end, that's the principle objective.

Merson has now predicted a comfortable win for Spurs and said, "West Ham have turned a corner after good performances against Huddersfield and West Brom but I can't look past Tottenham here. Good restaurant, good food, good wine", he added.

"We had steak from Spain and Australia but Argentine wine, which is the best!"

Pochettino is no stranger to team bonding exercises and once even walked over hot coals during his time in charge of Southampton.

"But it is so hard because here in England, it's hard to find a day or night altogether".

"It's such a busy schedule that we have, we play every 2-3 days and then all are away for global break".

"But if you are a very good player and can play very well in different positions, there are more possibilities for him to play".

And after scoring the victor in Tuesday's 1-0 EFL Cup win over Barnsley, Alli was shown celebrating by cupping his ears, an act which some interpreted as a show of petulance towards demanding Spurs fans.

Harry Kane, who was rested in midweek, will return to lead the line for Tottenham, with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen providing the principal attacking support.

"Now he is doing very well".

Kane was the only English player named on the 55-man shortlist for FIFPro's World XI on Wednesday, a feat Pochettino believes highlights his status as world class.
