Tammy Abraham succumbs to pressure to shun Nigeria

Tammy Abraham succumbs to pressure to shun Nigeria

Born 2nd October 1997, Tammy is 1.90m tall, and is said to have enormous respect for fellow Chelsea FC man Victor Moses, who also played for England at junior level before committing his senior global career to Nigeria.

The 19-year-old scored 26 goals in 48 appearances on loan at Bristol City last season and has played for England at various youth levels. The striker is expected to make an announcement soon and will cast a huge blow to the England set-up as he is considered as one of their brightest prospects.

Abraham was born in London but remains eligible to play for Nigeria due to his dad's nationality and has not yet won a first-team cap for England, but has appeared nine times for the Under 21 side. "In some cases, they'll make the choice because they see a better opportunity, a chance of playing more regularly at worldwide level and in other cases, it's because it's where they believe they're from and they want to represent the country where they were born or where their parents were born and it's in their culture".

The forward will most likely contest for a starting position with Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho in what could become a very exciting front-line.

Pinnick said the NFF had begun the process of applying to Federation Internationale de Football Association to transfer Abraham's registration.

The necessary documents have begun to be filed and are expected to be completed shortly.

"Contrary to reports in the media today I would like to clarify that I have not agreed to switch my national team allegiance", said Abraham.

"I can confirm I met the President of the NFF after our game against Tottenham at Wembley, given he is a friend of my father".

The striker, who is now on loan at Premier League side Swansea City for the season, has turned out for England at youth level.

The Nigerian Football Federation have confirmed that they are close to securing the services of Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham.
