Drunk man forces 8 year-old to drive him around

Pennsylvania police have arrested a New Castle man after accusing him of forcing an 8-year-old girl to get behind the wheel because he was too intoxicated to drive himself.

That's where township police say in a criminal complaint that someone reported seeing the child driving and nearly wrecking the vehicle twice about 7:30 p.m. A few minutes later, two bystanders noticed a child behind the wheel of the auto and called 911.

The caller told dispatchers a small child was driving, according to the criminal compaint.

WPXI reports that Kevin Michael Cook, 24, allegedly instructed the young child to start driving to East Palestine, Ohio.

That following driver called 911 and also somehow forced the girl to pull the vehicle over.

Bystanders intervened around the time the 911 call was made.

The child told police they left her grandmother's residence and were attempting to head across state lines, police said.

Police say the girl is not related to Cook, who is being described as a "friend" of the child's family.

Darlington Township Police Chief Al Filauri told Channel 11 the 8-year-old girl has no relation to the suspect.

Arriving officers said Cook was so drunk that he couldn't finish a sobriety test.
