Suspect Shot By Police Outside Huntington Beach 7-Eleven

The Huntington Beach police officer was speaking with the man outside of a 7-Eleven around 9:30 a.m. when a confrontation broke out and the officer opened fire, Officer Angela Bennett, a police spokeswoman said.

An officer contacted the man at 9:30 a.m. outside the store at 6012 Edinger Ave. and an altercation occurred that led to the shooting, said police spokeswoman Angela Bennett.

Bennett said the department is aware of video that captured the shooting and would review all evidence in the case.

A bystander captured footage of the incident showing the cop struggling to subdue the young man on the ground of the parking lot just before the officer-involved shooting happened. The officer draws his gun and backs away.

It goes ahead the foot rear areas of an officer-included shooting September 7 that left a suspect and two Huntington Beach officers injured.

It isn't clear whether the man was armed. Then a seventh shot is fired and the man stumbles backward and collapses on his side. "Suspect's down", the officer radioed in shortly after.

The incident took place Friday morning. The school tweeted that there were many police patrol cars on scene and that students were safe.
