TN Minister says AIADMK lied about Jayalalithaa's health

At a public meeting in Madurai, Srinivasan also apologised to party workers and the public for lying about Jayalalithaa's health, saying the situation in the state had forced him to speak the truth now.

"There were several leaders who visited the hospital, but all of them were allowed only up to the first floor". Arun Jaitley, Amit Shah, Venkaiah Naidu, Governor, Rahul Gandhi and even DMK leaders visited Amma.

"You are also directed to submit the list of General council Members and Central Executive Committee Members of the party as on 5 December, 2016", it said, adding that copies of the lists should also be served on the other group. Rest, no one was allowed.

"We all lied then so that the party's secret does not get leaked", Sreenivasan claimed. Ironically, the same minister had in March criticised O Panneerselvam and his supporters for seeking a probe into the death of Jayalalithaa. In the days that followed, Jayalalithaa's closest aides - VK Sasikala, O Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palaniswami - got into an intense and often abusive battle to claim her legacy; a fight that almost 10 months after her demise is still on.

"So many things were said to make everyone believed that Amma was doing fine in the hospital and was healthy". Some say they have video footage. He said they would win the case in the High Court and they were willing to go all the way to the Supreme Court if required.

TTV Dhinakaran, however, defended his aunt and said nobody was allowed in Amma's room due to fear of infection.

Reacting to the charge, T.T.V.Dinakaran, nephew of Sasikala, said after October 1, 2016 even Sasikala was not allowed inside Jayalalithaa's room.

The minister, now owing allegiance to the Edappadi Palanisamy and O Panneerselvam camp of the AIADMK, told the public that everyone in the government lied about Jayalalithaa meeting people in Apollo Hospital, where she was admitted on September 22 a year ago.

The petitioner also sought an interim injunction restraining the state ministers from issuing any statements pertaining to the death.
