Toffees have meeting with PSG to discuss shock transfer for Edinson Cavani

The Toffees may have splashed the cash over the summer on the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nikola Vlasic, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney over the summer, but more spending is expected in January.

But Koeman failed to land an out-and-out striker with interest in Olivier Giroud and Christian Benteke coming to nothing.

Murmurings in the French press this morning suggest that - shock horror - several PSG players aren't overly enamoured with Neymar and that the pedestal he's been thrust upon by the club's owners has caused an "atmosphere of tension" among the squad.

Spanish paper El Pais claims Uruguay forward Cavani, 30, made a brash comment to €222million world-record buy Neymar on first meeting him.

"And who is this?"

As Neymar walked into the PSG dressing room, after his move from Barcelona, Cavani reportedly said: "And who is this?"

Dani Alves has blasted former Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan on social media after he was criticized by the way he and Neymar's treated Cavani during Paris Saint-Germain's game.

With 139 goals in 207 for PSG, Cavani has scored on a regular basis for the French giants, but a recent row over penalty-taking duties with new signing Neymar has resulted in speculation over his future at the Parc des Princes.

Both PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Unai Emery have called on the duo to sort the spat out, while Cavani is also believed to have turned down a €1m bonus from his club to allow Neymar to take over as chief spot kick taker.

After the reports, Le Parisien claim that PSG have formally denied the reports after they enquired about the bonus story.

Neymar was absent on Saturday with a foot injury, as PSG dropped their first points of the season in a 0-0 draw away at Montpellier.
