18-year-old arrested again after crash that killed Somerville officer

"He epitomized a good police officer".

"If you want an officer responding to you when you're in need, you want it to be Officer Remigio", Fallon said.

In an August 2015 post on the Somerville Police Department's website, Remigio was praised as an officer who "goes above and beyond the call of duty, not only while on-duty, but while off-duty as well".

Remigio, a 30-year veteran of the Somerville Police Department, was off duty when his motorcycle was hit by a auto that witnesses said was racing other vehicles. He had received several honors over his time with the department including two Life Saving awards and a Meritorious Service award. "Louie was a very important part of this department, and I can not begin to express what his loss will mean not only to each of us in the Somerville Police Department, but to the Somerville community".

"Officer Remigio was not only one of the most dedicated officers, but he was a well-respected and well-loved member of our city", said Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone.

Remigio was a 30-year veteran of the Somerville Police Department, having joined the department in March 1988. He leaves behind two adult daughters, according to published reports.

A 55-year-old Tewksbury man who was lauded for his work as a Somerville police officer died Monday night from injuries suffered when his motorcycle was struck on a New Hampshire highway by a teenager who was allegedly racing. Remigio was off duty and riding his 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Police say that a northbound 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 driven by Michael Ricci, of Burlington, Mass., traversed into the southbound lanes before colliding with Remigio's Harley-Davidson. In the crash, a third vehicle could not stop in time and rear-ended Ricci's auto, State Police said.

An 18-year-old charged in connection to a fatal crash that killed a Somerville police officer has been arrested for the second time this week, but it wasn't clear why.

Ricci was released on $10,000 cash bail yesterday after being charged with felony reckless conduct and is due to be arraigned October 20.
