Bandai America, its parent company, announced on Tuesday it will launch a smaller version of its iconic digital pocket pet.

A new version of the Tamagotchi is being released to celebrate the toy's 20th anniversary.

It's time to hatch, feed, and clean-up after your virtual pets yet again - Tamagotchi is back in honor of the toy's 20th anniversary.

The mini Tamagotchi, available for pre-orders now, goes on sale November 5 for $14.99 each.

The mini Tamagotchi devices have been launched with a suggested retail price of £9.99.

There have been 82 million Tamagotchis sold worldwide since the toy's 1997 release.

Whether you kept yours alive for two days, or if you were that kid who looked after it like a mother would a child, they commanded our attention for a large part of our youth. "So we wanted to make sure you could have that core play without feeling overwhelmed", Bandai America Marketing Director Tara Badie said to IGN while showing off the device at New York Comic Con.
