Andy Cohen replaces Kathy Griffin on CNN's New Year's Eve show

Outrageous gives way to outrageous: Kathy Griffin's replacement as Anderson Cooper's sidekick on New Year's Eve will be Andy Cohen, CNN announced Wednesday.

Andy Cohen was announced as the new co-host of CNN's New Year's Eve coverage - a role that was previously held by Griffin before she posed with a faux decapitated head of President Trump in a photo.

"I'm going to keep making jokes about this guy", she said.

Griffin initially made an emotional apology regretting her actions, calling the photo "horrible".

After Griffin posted a photo of herself brandishing a severed head that looked like President Trump, CNN made a decision to cut ties with the comedienne. "It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate".

Cohen and Cooper regularly tour together, hosting a night of conversation in various cities throughout the country. He exec-produced several of her stand-up specials that premiered on the NBCUniversal cabler in the early 2000s. Both Cohen and Cooper have also served as frequent guest co-hosts on fellow friend and media personality Kelly Ripa's morning show, particularly before Ryan Seacrest was named her permanent co-host.

Cohen has plenty of experience facilitating unpredictable interviews while live on air as host of Bravo's Watch What Happens: Live and Fox's Love Connection Plus, after acting as a buffer between quarreling Real Housewives over the years, handling the cheerful pedestrians in Times Square should be a walk in the park.

We like the chemistry between the two-and it's fun to see Cohen get Cooper to step outside his comfort zone.
