New York Giants suspend Lakewood Ranch High alum Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

In what has been a insane Wednesday, the New York Giants announced that they suspended veteran cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie but there's a possibility he could return Thursday.

You have to wonder if this power play by DRC is a way to get Ben McAdoo, the Giants' head coach, out of the building.

Collins also told reporters he believes the decision was a result of an "altercation" Sunday between his secondary mate and McAdoo.

For the ability he has, and the production we've seen from him on the field, his five-year, $35 million contract seems like a bargain.

"DRC came in yesterday, we had a conversation that was personal upstairs", McAdoo said. Rodgers-Cromartie played only 51.3 percent of the snaps in last Sunday's game after playing more than 80 percent combined in the first four games combine, according to pro-football-reference.

Rodgers-Cromartie has been one of the Giants' key defensive players, missing just two games since he arrived in NY.

At 0-5 on the season, the team just recently lost wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Dwyane Harris for the season. McAdoo repeatedly refused to provide any other details about the situation.

The Giants have a bye after that, so Shepard would conceivably get three weeks to treat his left ankle injury before returning to action.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, this rift occurred as a result of some outburst from DRC on the sidelines during Sunday's loss to the Chargers. It wouldn't be a surprise given how things are going for the Giants this season.
