Google's Pixel 2 and Apple's iPhone 8 are two of the most anticipated smartphone series releases this year.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are now available for pre-order, with shipments expected to arrive within six to seven weeks. Both of which follow-on from last year's Pixel and Pixel XL models, although that does not mean they as alike as their predecessors were. On the other hand, the 64 GB Pixel 2 XL will cost $35.42 a month and the 128 GB variant by $39.58 a month.

In audio, Google's decision to remove the audio jack not only made physical space for other features to be included in the phone, but also opened up a new market to offer its new Pixel Buds earphones.

It was a nice perk to what has already been dubbed by DxOMark as the best smartphone camera of all time.

Now, photos and videos taken with a Pixel 2 by a Google employee have been discovered on Google Photos and the samples look quite good.

Users can touch and hold the right earbud to make Google Assistant either play music, make a call, get Global Positioning System directions, and even read text messages and alert them to calendar reminders. The bigger Pixel 2 XL has a 6.0-inch QHD+ display with 18:9 screen ratio, a 3520 mAh battery, and the rest are the same as the Pixel 2.

Not wanting to be outdone, T-Mobile is offering a pretty sweet deal if you transfer service and bring your phone over to its network.

The camera is the main battlefield for these new phones. As Bluetooth devices, they're compatible with Android and iPhones alike, but if you use them Apple's smartphones, you'll also benefit from integration with the Siri digital assistant.

It's a chance for users to try out the new Pixel 2, Home Mini, Pixelbook and more with hands-on demos that will be the showcase of every Made by Google store starting next week Thursday.
