Super Mario Odyssey's Newest Trailer Showcases Cappy's Abilities and Multiplayer

The first 200 people in line at the NY stop will get the chance to be the first to buy the new game at midnight. The first is Assist Mode, which points players who want an easier time in the direction of where they need to go.

Last month, Dave had the chance to try out a few more Super Mario Odyssey kingdoms, confirming the positive impression he had earlier in the year. The previous Nintendo World Championships in 2015 were held during E3, which naturally lent itself better to surprise game announcements. In similar fashion, we can definitely see Super Mario Sunshine's hand in Odyssey. Both Mario and Bowser are in tuxedos, while Princess Peach is in a wedding dress. This trailer has also confirmed that all of these unlockables will be available by progressing through the game as well. Where the game deviates from the traditional "Mario" plot is through the introduction of Cappy, a hat shaped ghost that accompanies Mario and, among other abilities, allows him to possess other creatures and objects. Add in Nintendo's new tendency for faster marketing cycles, and you understand why games like Super Mario Maker Deluxe or Super Smash Bros.

The video also touches upon Snapshot Mode which is used to take screenshots. It's unclear from what's shown in the trailer if this mode supports Pro Controllers as well. At the scheduled stops noted below, fans can visit the trailer, take the Nintendo Switch game for a spin and even snap a memorable photo with Mario and his trailer.

A new extensive trailer from the Japanese arm of Nintendo shows off a lot of footage you might have already seen, but it does delve into some features that have otherwise not been announced yet.

Super Mario Odyssey releases worldwide on Nintendo Switch on October 27.
