Annoyed Real Madrid notify Man Utd of Bale's availability

While he has enjoyed plenty of highs with Real - including three Champions League triumphs - his inability to steer clear of injury is proving to be a problem and has sparked speculation regarding a possible move, with Manchester United considered to be long-time admirers.

He has picked up where he left off this time round, finding the net 15 times in just 13 appearances for club and country.

Former Real Madrid and Wales manager John Toshack believes Gareth Bale's career is stalling because of injuries at the Bernabeu.

But Spurs' chiefs turned the offer down, and Mourinho now wants Manchester United to go again for the 24-year-old this time around in a world record fee.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to leave at the end of the season, Harry Kane would be his long-term successor.

"I think he'll want to complete his journey at Tottenham".

The Sun claim Jose Mourinho is really interested in signing the Tottenham striker so he can partner Romelu Lukaku at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils apparently had a £40m plus Javier Hernandez bid rejected immediately two years ago.

But Spurs continue to insist they do not need to sell the England hitman.

"Zlatan Ibrahimovic will move on next summer, more than likely, freeing up a load of cash they plan to use".

"It's money they can lay their hands on but it will be interesting to see what Levy's stance on the whole thing will be".

The converted left-back had a hand in 41 goals during his previous year in north London and after failing to see his individual achievements matched in Madrid, many are hoping Bale will return to England and light up the Premier League again.
