Drunken NFL fan sets self ablaze following Cowboys loss to Packers

Deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at a home on 9th Street Sunday night, only to learn that those involved had already gone to the hospital.

One man in Vero Beach, Fla., can claim to have such fiery devotion for the Dallas Cowboys, but for now he'll have to root on his favorite team while recovering from severe burns to his body.

Because the 27-year-old and his wife, a Packers' fan, agreed to burn the jersey of whichever team lost, according to the Sebastian Daily.

The man, who told deputies he was intoxicated, went outside to incinerate his jersey after the Cowboys lost to the Green Bay Packers, but he attempted to keep the lit jersey on and was soon burned.

The man suffered third-degree burns on his right arm and right hand and second-degree burns to his back.

A bet on a football game between a Florida man and his wife took a risky turn when he made a decision to wear the jersey of the losing team before setting it ablaze - leaving him with second- and third-degree burns, authorities said.

And I shouldn't have to say this, but if you do actually go through with setting something on fire, DON'T THEN TRY TO WEAR THE GODDAMN THING. They said they were "messing around" and admitted to being drunk, according to the Sheriff's Office report.

He admitted to doing it because he was "under the influence of an alcoholic beverage", the report said.
