Amazon Studios Chief Accused of Sexually Propositioning Producer

Lisa Bloom, who had been Price's lawyer since the alleged harassment was reported on in August, dropped Price as a client on Thursday with a representative confirming this to Reuters.

Today, Roy Price, Amazon Studios VP and the head of Prime Video content, was suspended by Amazon.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter about Hackett's allegations, the company said, "We take seriously any questions about the conduct of our employees".

Amazon didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. "Accordingly, we looked closely at this specific concern and addressed it directly with those involved". Price, through a spokesperson, declined comment.

Hackett told Masters she was inspired to speak publicly now because so many women had shared their stories about Weinstein, the disgraced film executive who is the subject of numerous sexual harassment and rape claims that have surfaced over the past week. He was sacked from his company, Weinstein Co., last weekend.

The claims compound the problems for Amazon Studios, which has won critical acclaim for some productions but has struggled to make TV shows that capture the popular imagination like Netflix's "House of Cards" and "Stranger Things".

The Amazon Studios president's departure comes amid renewed sexual harassment allegations and multiple signs that Amazon and others in the industry had withdrawn their support from the embattled executive.

Price joined Amazon in 2004, overseeing the launch of its digital video store and eventually its streaming service. (The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Hackett told at least two people about the alleged incident in the immediate aftermath.) Hackett says she made clear to Price she was not interested and told him that she is lesbian with a wife and children. While other fare like Mozart in the Jungle, Sneaky Pete and One Mississippi have earned solid reviews, sources also say Amazon chairman Jeff Bezos was impatient for a Game of Thrones-style hit.
