Firing in Sweden's Trelleborg leaves at least four wounded

It is not yet known if there have been any fatalities in the incident.

"We have received several reports of a shooting in Trelleborg", the police spokesman had explained earlier, according to British daily the Express. It's packed with police cars in the street'.

"When we arrived at the scene, several people with gunshot injuries were found".

"Four people have been hospitalised in Malmö and Lund", authorities said in an update 45 minutes after the shooting but were unable to confirm the severity of their injuries.

Trelleborg is a town is the far south of Sweden, around 650km south of Stockholm.

Security officials have blocked some areas and are conducting "an investigation".

"I felt fear, it seems that the shooting took place opposite where I live".

Another neighbour told the newspaper: 'There were many shots.

Local resident Martin Hansson said: "This is Trelleborg, a quiet and nice city", he says.

He said he heard more bangs and saw several people run back and forth. "I just heard shots and a lot of screaming".
