Friday is deadline to register for November 7 election

Mail-in voter registration forms must be mailed out by midnight on Friday, Oct. 13, and received by the Board of Elections no later than Wednesday, Oct. 18, for the Tuesday, Nov. 7 general election.

"Absentee voting is a great option that allows Virginians to participate in the upcoming election even if they are unable to make it to the polls on Election Day".

Anyone who needs to register to vote in the upcoming gubernatorial election needs to do so by October 16. All absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than November 6 to be counted.

In-person absentee voting is available at local voter registration offices Monday through Friday during regular office hours and on Saturday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 4. "So if you want to be a part of a certain party, and vote in that primary next year, you've got to come see us before tomorrow at 5", said Jude Seymour, Jefferson County Board of Elections.

Voters who want to vote an absentee ballot by mail must apply before 5 p.m. on October 31.

In Kings Mountain Ward 3 councilman Tommy Hawkins was running unopposed for reelection but a write-in candidate Gilbert (Pee Wee) Hamrick is asking voters to write his name on the ballot. In Cayuga County, the board's office is located at 157 Genesee St.in Auburn.

New Yorkers can check the status of their voter registration and political party affiliation here or by calling 1-866-VOTE-NYC.
