City chief executive Ferran Soriano has said he would "open the doors" to Messi if he ever made a decision to leave, but manager Pep Guardiola believes he will finish his career at Barca.

Speaking to TyC Sports (via Sky Sports), Aguero explained how he was told that he would be unable to face the Potters after the accident and, upon reflection, was eternally grateful that he did not suffer more severe injuries - or worse - from the crash.

"But I think Messi, like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, are players who are symbols of their clubs and it's hard for them to leave".

Because of the injury, the Argentina global was unable to feature in his nation's crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Ecuador.

As for Aguero, he sat out this round of global fixtures after a auto crash in Amsterdam left him with a broken rib. He said, "I don't believe so". "I thanked him for what he is doing for the World Cup".

The lethal striker confirmed that he had "trained normally" but away from the rest of the group this week, although he did not know whether he would be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Stoke City.

"I was lucky that I know the agent of Maluma, he invited me and I went". Back to training. I am ready! "I don't want to play and then have a knock that keeps me out for another week".

City star Sergio Aguero says he'd love to see his Argentina team-mate at the Etihad stadium.

"I'm not quite sure who they've done the deal with, perhaps my double", he added.
