Paul Scholes interviewed for Oldham Athletic job

As Paul Scholes is linked with the vacant manager's position at Oldham, we look at the managerial careers of the players who played under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

The club refused to comment on whether Scholes, 42, has been spoken to about the job, but BBC Radio Manchester reports talks have taken place.

Latics, who are now 19th in the League One table, have been in search of a new manager since John Sheridan left in September.

It would be a hard situation for a managerial debut with Oldham sitting at 19th in League One, and also considering that current caretaker manager, also an ex-United player in Richie Wellens, has done a solid job thus far.

It was reported in some corners on Wednesday that Scholes has had a meeting with Oldham regarding becoming their new manager. For the meantime, the club has appointed Richie Wellens on a temporary basis.

The club's board will now have to decide whether or not to give Wellens the job or go with the big-named former global superstar.

The Latics are subject to potential investment and failed to pay their players and staff for the month of September - the third time the club have not paid wages since 2011.

Scholes spent 20 years in the first team at United, making 718 appearances between 1993 and 2013.

Scholes has been an Oldham supporter since he was a child and he once expressed an interest in playing for them when he left Manchester United.
