Penn State, James Franklin affirm commitment after Texas A&M reports

The Nittany Lions are now undefeated and ranked third in the country. However, he's been dealing with something else on Friday.

On top of that, Penn State's athletic department felt compelled to release this statement on Friday.

Penn State was responding to reports that Texas A&M would consider Franklin should they part ways with current coach Kevin Sumlin after the season.?

In a tweet, Franklin said, "Recruiting is a insane business, people will do anything to create drama". In August, Franklin agreed to a three-year extension worth an average of $5.8 million per year that runs through the 2022 season.

Coaching in the SEC would be nothing new for Franklin as before taking the Penn State job, Franklin was the head coach at Vanderbilt for three seasons.

If A&M wants to poach Franklin from Penn State, the Aggies would have to pay a $2 million buyout for the Langhorne, Pennsylvania native and pay Sumlin the remainder of his six-year, $30 million dollar contract that he signed in 2013. The free event presented by Penn State Lehigh Valley and ArtsQuest starts at 3 p.m. and includes the big game shown live on the Levitt Pavilion's large outdoor television screen. Outside of those postseason trips, Vandy has only been to three other bowls since 1975.
