Police search for footage of family vehicle in missing Richardson girl case

Sherin Mathews, who has developmental issues and limited verbal communication skills, was last seen outside her family's backyard in Richardson, Dallas.

Wesley Mathews took his daughter, Sherin Mathews, outside at 3 a.m. Saturday to discipline her, the affidavit states. He noticed she was gone 15 minutes later but did not call police until five hours later.

"She is in mourning, some individuals mourn differently, it is not indicative of anything".

The mother told officials that she was asleep when the girl went missing. However, the alert was discontinued on Monday afternoon due to the lack of necessary information. He was released on bond Sunday, but forced to wear an ankle monitor.

Mathews, 37, told police he put Sherin in an alley near their house where coyotes previously had been spotted to punish her after she wouldn't drink her milk, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Some 15 minutes later, Wesley checked in on Sherin but she was gone and after looking around for her, he said he went inside to do laundry and made a decision to wait until it was light out, to continue searching for her in hopes that she would return home on her own. "He elected to call the police shortly after 8 o'clock".

"Right now, we're going through all that", Perlich explained.

"As far as why she was out there, how long she was out there, that's the questions we have for the parents", he added.

Police are reaching out to the public who may have surveillance footage of an SUV in connection with a missing child case in Richardson.

"We don't have any other indication or evidence that she was forcibly abducted from that area", Perlich said.

Sherin's father, Wesley Mathews, faces charges of child endangerment and has since bonded out.

Sherin is described as 3-feet tall and 22 pounds with black hair. The girl also suffered from developmental disabilities, making it hard for her to communicate. Investigators say she was adopted two years ago from an orphanage in India. "She is hopeful that the daughter will be returned".

The community is also shaken up from the matter as well as the toddler's great-uncle. They were doing feedings throughout the day and night. "The parents are believers in Christ". She does not know Sherin's whereabouts. Police have affirmed that the little girl is still believed missing. The parents are also loving. "All she wants is to have her biological daughter and Sherin back".

It was all quiet on Thursday at the Richardson home were Sherin was reported missing. "And you leave your baby?"

Law enforcement authorities are continuing to investigate and search for Sherin Mathews.
