Liverpool says Sadio Mane out for up to 6 weeks

Six weeks is a long time in football, and it just so happens to come at a bad time for Liverpool as they face Manchester United and Tottenham in their next two Premier League games.

Liverpool struggled without Mane midway through last season, when he was competing at the African Cup of Nations.

Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday that Mane is set to miss up to six weeks with the hamstring problem to rule the winger out of Saturday's clash against Manchester United.

The Brazilian will more or less always look to Mane first, and 25-year-old, in turn, will always seek to make himself available.

That is according to former Premier League star David Ginola.

"For Jurgen Klopp, it's a massive loss", Ginola said on talkSPORT.

What do Liverpool lose without Mane?

The development is a significant blow to Liverpool's aspirations in the Premier League and Champions League, with Mane being integral to Jurgen Klopp's forward play. Ahead of the 3-3 draw at Watford on the first day of the season, he said of playing Mane and Salah together: 'It makes us more hard to defend because speed is the most hard thing to defend in football.

He says only Mane, Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho are the sources of goals in the Reds team.
