DOOM Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced

Today, developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks announced that the Nintendo Switch version of the popular first-person shooter would be hitting stores on November 10, 2017. Doom for Nintendo Switch trailer can be seen in the Nintendo Direct video starting at 25:46.

"You won't find another game like this on the Nintendo Switch right now, which is what I think we're really excited about", Stratton said. Rest assured the single-player campaign will fit snugly on the Switch's 16 GB cartridge, but the online multiplayer mode will have to be downloaded separately in a 9 GB file - free of charge from the Switch eShop, of course.

All in all, though, it's hard not to be a little impressed with how good the Nintendo Switch version of the game looks and how many features it will ship with.

That kind of consideration demonstrates that fact that id Software has been forced to make some tweaks to the game to make sure it's at its best on the Switch.

These games were already confirmed to be released, with Wolfenstein II being released in 2018, and Skyrim in November.

Those who have played last year's Doom on PS4, Xbox One, or PC might be concerned about the game's enormous file size. They credit developer Panic Button with finding a way to retain all of Doom's most meaningful visual features when developing the title for the Switch and also note that the game's base engine was pretty flexible to begin with.
