Gunners forced to lower Mesut Ozil asking price with Man Utd keen

Mesut Ozil does not have potential buyers right now.

On Tuesday, the Mirror have reported that Arsenal are now open to selling the German World Cup victor in January.

Alexis Sanchez is in a similar position to Ozil but, while the Chilean attracted plenty of interest from clubs last summer, there was barely any in Ozil.

Cross referred to manager Arsene Wenger's previous suggestions that Ozil may have to be sold in January rather than be allowed to leave for nothing in the summer.

"Overall I hope that the situation can be turned around".

The 29-year-old's representatives claimed last week that talks with the club over a new contract were progressing well but that view is not shared by the club.

That means in the Premier League this season, Hart has registered one assist - whereas Ozil is still stuck on zero.

Arsenal should have put the game to bed long before Deeney's penalty, with Ozil missing a glorious chance to make it 2-0 by firing straight at Heurelho Gomes.

Before Watford completed their comeback, however, Arsenal could have secured the points.

Ozil's transfer saga raged through the summer and has continued during a disappointing start to the 2017-18 season.

Furthermore, Arsenal's players are close to losing all faith in the attacking midfielder because his attitude simply isn't up to scratch anymore.

While a fantastic player on his day, Ozil goes missing far too often and lacks the consistency needed for a side with title ambitions.
