Padmavati Row: Royal Family Of Jaipur Threatens To Oppose The Release

While the Rajasthan government may set up a committee, it is not immediately clear whether Bhansali will screen the movie for it as by law, only the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has the right to certify a movie. He said he had written to a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the matter.

The film has been embroiled in a spate of controversies ever since its inception.

Earlier, Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had rubbished rumours and reports of a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and the invader Allauddin Khilji in his forthcoming movie Padmavati. We have made this film with responsibility and also considered the sentiments and dignity of Rajput community, ' he said in the video. Now through this video, I am reiterating that in our film, Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji have no such scene together which hurts anyone's sentiments.

In a huge relief for director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed against the release of his movie Padmavati. The petition was filed by a group of persons looking for a stay on the release of Padmavati which they allegedly claim is hurting emotions of the Rajput community.

Of late, there have been protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati, in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and objections have been raised about Rajputs being shown in a bad light. Later, a set of the film in Kolhapur was vandalised and set on fire.

Shri Rajput Karni Sena, an organisation of the Rajput community, have issued innumerable threats as they believe Bhansali filmed a dream sequence between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji in Padmavati.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud said there were enough guidelines to be followed by the censor board to grant certification of a film before its release.
