'Let's Meet', Kejriwal Tweets to Punjab CM Amarinder Singh

'Let's Meet', Kejriwal Tweets to Punjab CM Amarinder Singh

"I am indeed open to meeting you anytime anywhere to solve the problem of dangerously bad air in NCR", Khattar wrote back. "It is in collective interest (sic)", tweeted Kejriwal.

Kejriwal had recently said that keeping political differences aside, the Centre, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi governments should come together to find a permanent solution to stubble burning which leads to high pollution every year.

Notably, Delhi Chief Minister held "stubble" burning by neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab, responsible for the alarming rise in pollution level and appealed his counterparts to hold joined talks on the matter. The Delhi government has been asking for a joint meeting of the chief ministers of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi to find a solution to the air pollution that is choking Delhi and the rest of NCR for nearly two weeks. "What steps did Kejriwal take for stubble burning over 40,000 hectares of land in Delhi".

Earlier in the day, he said his office was constantly trying to fix a meeting with the Haryana chief minister. With light rain expected on Wednesday, air quality may improve in the coming days. "Unfortunately your letter contains no hint of such a mindset", Khattar wrote in his reply to Kejriwal's invitation for talks. "What steps have been taken to keep them from burning stubble?"

The Haryana CM has asked me to see him in Chandigarh on Wednesday, the AAP supremo said.

Accusing the Delhi CM of playing politics for vote-bank, he said, "I will be in Delhi on Monday and Tuesday".

He said that satellite imagery data clearly showed substantial reduction in number of stubble burning cases in Haryana from 2014 onwards. After arriving in Delhi, Khattar told reporters: "I am in Delhi, where is the meeting".

A thick blanket of smog caused by the burning has engulfed parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, severely affecting normal life and troubling people in breathing.
