Facebook Is Making Changes to Stories after Slow User Adoption

According to TechCrunch, there are certain smaller changes on way too along with the other changes like the new privacy setting relating the visibility of the stories and the introduction of Facebook Stories for its stripped-down application-Facebook Lite, widely famous in nations like Mexico, India, and the Philippines. The company now has a Snapchat Stories clone for WhatsApp, Messenger, and its core social network. For now, users on the low-data-usage version of Facebook's main app can only view Stories, but the company tells me posting is coming soon.

"People who use Facebook every day want Stories to be a format that works for them with the things that they're already doing and sharing on Facebook", Hayes continued. With this new feature, members of a specific Facebook Group or Event will be able to contribute to a Story that's visible to the rest of the members... Now, Facebook Stories will be synced across both platforms, although camera filters will still remain separate.

Facebook is bringing a major overhaul in the Facebook Stories feature. By combining Messenger Day - the Story-sharing function of Messenger - with the old Facebook Stories feature to create a new feature, Stories, users will be able to respond directly to your story within the Messenger app. Along with this change, Facebook is also killing private ephemeral messaging feature Direct. All replies from Stories (via Facebook and via Messenger), and Facebook Camera messages will be sent through Messenger instead.

Update: This post has been updated to clarify Stories from Groups, Events and Pages will not be available in Messenger.

While Facebook is streamlining many facets of Stories, there is one thing it is adding: collaborative Stories for events. To encourage people to contribute to a story, an open bubble will appear atop the News Feed for events happening during that time, provided the user is RSVP'd for it.
