How to Get Fast Wireless Charging on iPhone X and iPhone 8

How to Get Fast Wireless Charging on iPhone X and iPhone 8

Interestingly, an app of this nature is seemingly forbidden by Apple's developer guidelines for the iPhone X, and yet Apple opted to approve it anyway. Our favorite wireless charger for the iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus indeed supports 7.5W charging. However, while convenient, it did have some drawbacks compared to plugging in an old-fashioned Lighting cable. Right now, wireless chargers will recharge the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus at about the same speed as regular wired charging with the wall adapter that comes in the box.

Apple had promised that faster charging via wireless pads would arrive in time, but gave no roadmap for when it might actually be added.

In that update, the phones will accept 7.5-watt charges on Qi charging pads, rather than the current 5 watts.

We first heard that iOS 11.1 would enable 7.5W wireless charging, which is the maximum speed you can expect for wireless chargers. Needless to say this charges their batteries faster and is overall a user-friendly trait that Apple will likely catch up on sometime in the future provided that the hardware inside the all-new trio of 2017 iPhones allows it. The same iPhone charged from 46 percent to 60 percent over 30 minutes when using a wireless charging accessory that does not offer 7.5W charging speeds. Apple has been coy about the wireless charging tech inside its devices.
