Ignore IPOB threat - MASSOB

Ignore IPOB threat - MASSOB

"This is scary", one of them said.

"Let this election be conducted once and for all so that that we can rest".

Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

The Nigeria Police Force has deployed 26,000, 15 gunboats and 303 patrol vehicles for the Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for 18 November.

"All the identified flashpoints, trouble spots and other perceived violence/vulnerable areas in the state have been profiled and appropriate pragmatic strategies and tactics have been implemented to checkmate and tackle them ahead of the election.Consequent on the renewed threat by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other affiliate groups to disrupt the election, the Force has deployed Special Police Forces, Police Mobile Force, Specially Trained Counter-Terrorism Unit and other intelligence and tactical Squads to deal decisively with IPOB,"the statement added". No armed security personnel will be allowed within the polling units.

It called on traditional rulers, president-generals of town unions, the police, INEC and other stakeholders to address the issue and allay the fears of voters before the election day. Willie Obiano, on the other hand, is working hand in hand with Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State to bring in Northern youths resident in the state into Anambra to vote for Willie Obiano as a reward for signing up to the war against IPOB.

This came just as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) expressed dismay over the alleged statement that sensitive materials meant for the governorship election have been intercepted by the police in an undisclosed hotel in Awka.

According to Ogene, "Anambra people have agreed that there will be election in the state".

"There are already a number of disgruntled citizens in Anambra State who believe that IPOB has singled their state as a guinea pig that will make them the only Igbo state without an elected governor in the South-east. To tell them that the genuine power belong to the people and we are withholding it for good and sake of our freedom", Ogbonnaya reiterated.

"Security identification tag will be provided for all the security and safety agencies, INEC officials, election observers/monitors and others that have statutory duties to carry out in the election".

It also warned against those who are out to undermine the emergence of the popular choice of the Anambra People and to invalidate the genuine outcome of the election.

"I don't think I know what you are talking about", the REC said.

"It is therefore imperative that the Nigerian government desists from using force and militarising the state to avoid low voter turn out and also to avoid violence or a faceoff with the IPOB secessionist movement", the report said.

There are five candidates going into the election.

"We will want to appeal to all the contestants to play by the rules and also speak to their supporters on the need to have a peaceful election".
