Oscar De La Hoya training in secret, calls out Conor McGregor

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has thrown his name into the hat to be Conor McGregor's next opponent, nine years after his last fight.

The 44-year-old legend hasn't fought in a professional match in almost a decade.

De La Hoya has been "training secretly" for this bout.

"I'm faster than ever".

Conor McGregor may be the face of the UFC, but he's still going to have to face some consequences for his freaky outburst at a recent Bellator event. He had jumped in just before the round ended, and with everything that was going on, he hadn't got time to establish whether the fight had been brought to an end yet", said Ryan. "He was trying to get some order back in the cage and that's why he said, 'the fight's not over, lads, you're going to have to leave the cage.' That's when all the mayhem happened.

And De La Hoya, who won 39 fights out of 45 including 30 knockouts in his career, has boldly claimed he could defeat reigning UFC Lightweight Champion McGregor in just two rounds.

"After the event, I had some executives from UFC contact me within two hours after what occurred. I think Conor thought the fight was going to continue and that's when he went over to him and had words".

De La Hoya also apparently conceded that McGregor would "destroy" him in the cage, which, yes, is a given. You heard it on Golden Boy Radio.

There's no time frame for a return right now, or whether the UFC would be interested in another co-promotion with De La Hoya's "Golden Boy Promotions". He would freaking destroy me. How I feel now from my training. "You know I still have it in me". But it would seem De La Hoya saw the box office returns of Mayweather/McGregor, and the prospect of a giant payday has Oscar thinking things over. But, then McGregor was booked to box Mayweather, and De La Hoya blasted the bout, and even called on fans to protest the fight. Having long since demanded McGregor either defends or vacates his title, the American now believes the Irishman's antics at the recent Bellator event was a way to get out of any fight with Ferguson at UFC 219.
