Ryan murder case: CBI questions Gurugram police about probe botch-up

The premier agency reportedly found that vital and obvious clues were missed or misinterpreted during the investigation of the murder of Class 2 student in Ryan International School, Pradyuman Thakur, on September 8.

It seems now that the 16-year-old suspect in the gruesome Ryan International school murder of a 7-year-old boy has allegedly retracted his confession, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.

Police in Gurugram had arrested school bus conductor Ashok Kumar for the alleged murder and sexual assault the same day.

The agency is yet to find clinching evidence but investigators have told a juvenile court that the teen had confessed to the crime in the presence of his father, independent witnesses and the member of a social welfare board. CBI had also obtained the knife which was used as the sole weapon in the murder, the officials also reconstructed the crime scene by taking the class 11 student back to the crime spot and the shop from where he brought the knife.

Meanwhile, the father of the murder culprit denied allegations on his son and claimed that his son was thrashed and tortured by CBI officials to accept the crime.

While the CBI has arrested a Class XI student, it is being suspected that a co-accused was involved and the victim's father too had claimed that he suspected involvement of some well-placed school official who was saved by making the conductor a scapegoat.

"There were many clues which a cop won't normally miss".

"Since the investigation is at a very sensitive stage, we would not like to offer any comment at this stage on any aspect of the probe", said CBI spokesman Abhishek Dayal.

A Gurugram juvenile court had earlier sent the minor accused to a correction home in Faridabad for 11 days.

Earlier, the CBI produced the accused, who is a minor, before the JJB and demanded his six-day custody.

Pradhuman Thakur, the seven-year-old boy, was found near the toilet of Ryan International School with his throat slit on September 8 morning within an hour of his father leaving him at the school.
