Tom Hanks makes surprise appearance on Last Week Tonight finale

And a bonus extra: Because Last Week Tonight is going on hiatus, this show includes an appearance by the Catheter Cowboy, with several messages for the president.

Oliver wrapped up his segment by asserting that, while contemplating these three risky tactics is very bleak, people should take hope in the victories this year that have stemmed from resistance and holding officials accountable, such as courts blocking Trump's Muslim ban and the inability of Congressional Republicans to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Tom Hanks made a surprise appearance in the season finale of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver on Sunday night (12Nov17). The cowboy then jokingly adds, "Also, Frederick Douglas is dead". "Buddy, this can't be that hard". "And for many Trump supporters, that itself counts as a major victory". Shortly after The Times published its exposé on C.K., the distributor of his upcoming movie, I Love You, Daddy, which already garnered controversy for child-rape jokes and a scene in which a character pantomimes masturbating while an actress is on speakerphone, dropped the film.

Okay, the ex-presidents were wax. Hanks says with grave intensity in the fake trailer. It's all very solemn and serious, with Hanks appealing to an unseen president that "the fate of humanity is at stake".

In his final show for 2017, John Oliver revisits some of the most embarrassing and obnoxious moments of the Trump presidency over the past year. Hanks said, as dramatic music played in the background while he awaited the answer from a mysterious figure. Even with the freakish scenario, Hanks continues talking, stating that it "isn't a one-man job" to the figure.

Tell us what you think! Cue the other four statues Oliver previously purchased: Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and William Henry Harrison. Hanks concludes, "Gentlemen, let's go wax these bastards".
