Trudeau airs concern on Philippine killings

"But I also mentioned human rights, the rule of law, and specifically, extrajudicial killings as being an issue that Canada is concerned with", he added.

"We have been advised by the Philippines that most of the people engaged in the kidnapping of two Canadians have been killed in military operations".

Social media was all abuzz yesterday afternoon - and well into the night - with shared photos of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ordering take-out food at the North Harbour branch of Jollibee, and even interacting with some customers.

Trudeau said Canada will continue to be a part of global efforts to fight worldwide terrorism and will work to ensure that "there are consequences for anyone engaged in terrorist hostage taking". I impress upon him the need for respect to the rule of law. "This [status as an East Asia Summit member] is a tremendous opportunity for Canadians to engage in a fast growing region where we already have very good and positive ties", Trudeau said in a news conference on the sidelines of the 31 Asean Summit.

Duterte tends to become easily offended when others call him out regarding his campaign against narcotics, which has caused the killings of thousands of drug suspects and innocent victims. It has to be done in an honest and frank way. We have to talk about the high expectations.

Nevertheless, Trudeau admitted that Canada is not flawless either as they are also being criticized for human rights violation concerning their indigenous tribes who suffered from neglect marginalization and mistreatment.

Duterte chairs world leaders as the Philippines holds the rotating chair of the 10-nation ASEAN group.
