Airbus wins biggest jet order from Indigo Partners

European plane maker Airbus has announced its largest plane order by volume ever at the Dubai Airshow with a memorandum of understanding for 430 A320neo aircraft from USA aviation investor Bill Franke's Indigo Partners.

The order includes A320neos and A321neos, the source said.

A spokesman for Airbus declined to comment, as did Indigo says Bloomberg.

Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase of a further 146 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft entailing seventy-two A320neo and seventy-four A321neo. The aviation giant is expected to hold a press conference around 1000 GMT.

The Indigo deal would more than double Airbus's existing order book for the year, which stood at about 290 aircraft as of October 31.

"We are convinced that the Airbus A320neo and A321neo will be game-changer aircraft for Wizz Air, as we continue to grow at an industry-leading rate and expand our market reach across and beyond Europe", said József Váradi, Wizz Air's chief executive officer.

The airline had announced orders for 288 planes as of the end of October.

The deal marks a major coup for Airbus's Chief Operating Officer John Leahy, who is expected to leave the group soon at the end of a career in which he oversaw the sale of almost 15,000 planes.
