Skyrim for Switch: Here's how to use your Amiibos to unlock rewards

Skyrim for Switch: Here's how to use your Amiibos to unlock rewards

IGN - 8/10: "Although it may not be immune to the test of time, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim still holds up as one of the most immersive virtual worlds ever created in a video game". Last year, Bethesda released a Special Edition version of the game with improved graphics for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Alas, Nintendo is finally getting some of that Bethesda magic on its platform. It's Skyrim. It's been around for years and if you love it you'll love it on the Switch. First and foremost, this is the full Skyrim package. Skyrim for Switch comes with the base game and its three expansions: Dragonborn, Dawnguard, and Hearthfire. While a $60.00 price tag is pretty steep for a six-year-old game, at least there's plenty of content packed in that will keep you busy for hours upon hours.

It's hard to believe it's been five whole years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim debuted on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Gyro aiming is one of those new features, and definitely my favorite of the bunch.

Players can use Legend of Zelda amiibo to unlock Breath of the Wild armour and weaponry, like the Master Sword. The game has always had its fair share of criticisms toward the combat ever since the original release in 2011.

The Nintendo Switch version also introduces motion controls, letting players fire arrows and swing swords using the Joy-Cons.

This all sounds great, so why does the Skyrim Switch port make me mad? Therefore it just reminds me off Wii waggle days, which are days I try not to remember. It will also support up to 8 players in handheld mode, while TV mode has the max players supported as 4.

Be sure to check back with Twinfinite for more information on Skyrim on Switch.

"The only reason that we wouldn't see [stock] is if demand picks up any further but I wouldn't see that as a bad thing". In here you'll find an amiibo power. I will say though, I thought dungeons and caverns looked great in comparison to open areas, thanks to the fantastic attention to detail by Bethesda and superb lighting effects.

The Nintendo Switch version of Skyrim might not be the best looking, but it ends up being just as impressive as other releases and brings a unique style you can't find on any other platform. While I believe the Switch version runs better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, I still had multiple bugs occur (although significantly fewer bugs overall). There are probably major logistical issues to introducing mods on the Switch.

One last thing I want to mention is just how unbelievable the game's soundtrack is.

Gamespot - 8/10: "The original version of Skyrim is still an vast, engrossing RPG, and the quality, number, and variety of its quests makes it as easy to become lost in its world as ever". If there's one thing that didn't age badly, it's the breathtaking musical score.

Skyrim is an open world RPG and a continuation of the legendary Elder Scrolls series.

The console was undoubtedly limited in supply earlier in the year, but that has now ended with Gibbs commenting: "We've got enough Switch coming in on a week-by-week basis, Nintendo needs to take some real credit operationally for how they've managed to work this through".
