Gun threat prompts Davis junior high school to announce Friday closure

A student at Miami Northwestern High School was arrested after he was found with a loaded stolen gun at the school Wednesday, authorities said.

According to a statement from the district, there was a "targeted and anonymous" threat that a gun would be used at Holmes Junior High Nov. 17.

As the Davis Joint Unified School District and Davis police investigate the threat, the school will be closed as a safety precaution.

Lake City High School leaders said they are working closely with the Coeur d'Alene Police Department. "Staff, students, parents and the school community are being notified". No student, staff or other individual should be on campus at any time tomorrow.

The letter states that the district's other schools are expected to be open Friday. Next week is a pre-planned weeklong break at all schools for the Thanksgiving holiday. "A large coordinated effort with FHP, SRO, K-9, Orange County Fire/Rescue, road patrol, Ocoee (Police Department), Winter Garden (Police Department) and Windermere (Police Department) ensued where several contact teams entered and cleared the school grounds".

Ke'mard Rashad Jacques, 18, was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and grand theft of a firearm, according to an arrest report.

Police arrested two juvenile suspects near the high school just before 4 p.m.
